Anishnawbe Health Toronto (AHT) is an Indigenous-led community health centre that provides integrated healthcare combining Western medical practices with traditional Indigenous healing. Established in 1984 and fully accredited by 1989, AHT was created to serve Toronto’s Indigenous population through a holistic model addressing physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. The organization offers a wide range of services, including primary care, mental health support, diabetes prevention, youth outreach, and housing assistance. Its new purpose-built facility spans approximately 45,000 square feet over four storeys and includes ceremonial areas, gardens, and spaces for traditional healers, reflecting Indigenous values of balance, community, and connection to the land. AHT operates as both a healthcare provider and a cultural centre, helping to restore and strengthen Indigenous approaches to wellness in an urban context.
